Senior renewables manager joins OWC

4 December 2015 – Offshore Wind Consultants (OWC), part of Oslo-listed Aqualis ASA, has named John MacAskill as its first business development manager.

MacAskill joins OWC from the role as head of renewables at Bureau Veritas, where he led the company’s entry into renewables in Europe and in particular its successful entry into offshore wind project certification. He has earlier worked for GL Garrad Hassan and TAG Energy Solutions Ltd.

MacAskill will be responsible for sustaining OWC’s growth and leading the entry into new markets. He will also assist OWC’s sister company Aqualis Offshore with developing further opportunities in the oil and gas sector in Europe.

“Following our recent contract wins and the opening of our Hamburg office, John is joining at an important time for OWC. He brings a wealth of renewables business development experience and achievements, which will allow OWC to engage more fully with the market and assist investors, developers and owners with delivering successful projects. This is a vital element in achieving OWC’s global expansion plan,” Ian Bonnon, managing director of OWC stated.

Originally a marine engineer, MacAskill has worked in a mixture of business development and operational roles throughout his career.

“I look forward to ensuring both OWC’s and Aqualis Offshore’s excellent reputation and capability is allowed to grow in our existing UK and European markets as well as expanding into new ones,” said John MacAskill.
